Political Addiction

Talking about politics is usually very boring and sometimes even awkward. Sometimes it is even dangerous. I probably don\’t need to tell you that, for example, people sometimes start arguing or, in my opinion, fighting after talking about politics. But this is really strange and unprofessional. It is rather childish. Why should we fight just because we are talking about politics? I don\’t see anything wrong with that at all. Why can\’t people have perfectly normal and calm conversations about politics? It\’s really ugly and I don\’t like it.

Co vaše debaty o politice?

In my opinion it should be something completely different. If people want to have a conversation, if they are actually having a conversation, why should they swear and hit each other? My mother, grandmother and grandfather always laugh about it. I don\’t blame them. I thought it was really sad at first too, and very rude and tactless. But what was I to do? Of course, there was nothing I could do. So I decided I should stop looking at politics altogether. What would I gain from that? Nothing, of course. So I told my mother that I don\’t understand why people get into fights over politics.

Kvůli politice se nehádejte.

It\’s really sad. That said, I\’m really glad that I don\’t have a partner who has a really deep and profound interest in politics. In fact, my partner told me that he does follow politics, but he doesn\’t enjoy following it in such detail and depth. Like my parents and grandparents, he said. Yes, my grandparents in particular really love politics and don\’t hide it at all. Whenever there is an election, they always go out to vote and tell themselves that everyone should always vote. In their opinion, I am not a proper Czech, I guess I am just too lazy to go to the polls. Politics is not my field and I\’m not really interested in it, so I never go to the polls.
